Transparence en Temps Réel pour la Numérisation des Données Géologiques

Le 17 juillet 2025, le président de la République démocratique du Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, a présidé la cérémonie de signature pour un accord avec KoBold Metals qui prévoit que “la République démocratique du Congo et KoBold Metals coopéreront pour fournir un accès public gratuit aux données géoscientifiques historiques par l'intermédiaire du Service géologique national du Congo (SGNC) au bénéfice de tous.” Les parties se sont engagées à “agir rapidement et en toute transparence au bénéfice de tous.”

Le 25 juillet 2025, le SGNC, KoBold Metals et CAMI ont signé un accord pour faire avancer cet important travail. Cet accord prévoit que le SGNC facilitera l'accès de KoBold “aux archives géoscientifiques concernant la RDC, conservées au MRAC [Musée royal de l'Afrique centrale], en vue de leur numérisation et de leur publication.” KoBold “procédera à la numérisation des archives et informations géoscientifiques susmentionnées et mettra les données numérisées à la disposition du public gratuitement sur Internet.” De plus, “les données numérisées seront la propriété du public.”

Conformément à ces promesses, ce site web offre une transparence publique en temps réel pour la numérisation des données géologiques de la République démocratique du Congo. Lorsque KoBold numérise un enregistrement pour en créer une copie numérique accessible au public, celui-ci apparaît sur ce site web en moins d'une minute. Chacun peut télécharger les données et les utiliser immédiatement. KoBold créera également une interface web conviviale pour faciliter la recherche, la navigation et optimiser la valeur de ce projet pour la République démocratique du Congo.

On July 17, 2025, the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Felix Tshisekedi, presided over the signing ceremony for an agreement with KoBold Metals that provides that “The Democratic Republic of the Congo and KoBold Metals shall cooperate to provide free public access to historic geoscientific data through the National Geological Service of Congo (SGNC) for the benefit of all.” The parties committed that they shall “act quickly and transparently for the benefit of all.”

On July 25, 2025, the SGNC, KoBold Metals, and CAMI signed an agreement to advance this important work. That agreement provides that the SGNC shall facilitate KoBold’s “access to geoscientific archives concerning the DRC, kept at the MRAC [Royal Museum for Central Africa], with a view to their digitization and publication” and KoBold shall “carry out the digitization of the geo-scientific archives and information referred to above” and “make the digitized data freely available to the public on the internet.” Furthermore, “the digitized data shall be the property of the public.”

In accord with those promises, this website provides real-time public transparency for the digitization of geologic data for the Democratic Republic of the Congo. When KoBold scans a record to create a digital copy for the public, that record appears on this website for public access within one minute. Anyone may download the data and use it right away. KoBold will also build a user-friendly web interface to enable searching, browsing, and maximize the value of this project to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
